Simply $AVE:.

I have shared articles and videos with close friends and discussed wealth building in small "safe" spaces; however, the time has come for ME to not limit this conversation to small groups, but to be introspective and have honest dialogue, seek out education and expertise and make adjustments to change the direction of a dire financial reality. There is a great article that has been making it's rounds on social media highlighting the retirement shortfalls many African Americans face, however, the reality is that the problems, given the state of Social Security & other key financial indicators, is not limited to to one community. The truth is that years before retirement, most Americans cannot afford a MINOR emergency, not to mention expected expenses like death and taxes. Ignoring the issue does not fix the problem and asking for donations during a time of need is not a good solution either. As much as I love the genius of crowdfunding, it is not a reliable funding strategy for most things.

I try not not to complain about a problem without offering a solution, so I have decided to facilitate a Dave Ramsey Financial Peace at Impact Church in East Point, GA. The class is FREE; however, attendees will be required to purchase a book/material for the class which runs around $100. I invite anyone interested in the class or hearing tips on getting getting financially free to join a 'Dave Ramsey's Smart Money' live streaming event or look for a class hosted in their community. If you prefer to learn independently or want to read up before the class, I would also recommend reading 'Unshakeable: Your Guide to Financial Freedom' by Tony Robbins. The book, the class, and a lot of other trustworthy resources recommend working with a Financial planner when you're ready whose compensation structure YOU understand and who is acting in a fiduciary capacity.

I have been putting off writing a blog for a very long time and abhor long posts, but I felt this topic deserved more than my normal self-imposed character limits, ha! Happy Saving!
